Kate's first week as being a ONE year old!
Kate has been a year old a whole WEEK now--I still can't believe my baby is a year old! And she sure is having fun walking everywhere! After the two b-day parties we (well I guess I should say "I")were both pretty tired but by the end of the week we were back to ourselves. We had a rainly week so we spent a lot of time indoors. Kate had her one year appointment and did great after her shots! No fever this time. We all three got flu shots, fun, fun! Kate has started to get two more teeth in, so we are now on our way to having 6 teeth!! Good thing we are officially done with breastfeeding! She has not even tired to get any or cried for it or anything so I for sure think it was good timing. I am proud of myself for going the whole year, which was my goal. Mike's Mom is still in town, so Kate and I spent all day on Friday with her and even had a girlie night and slumber party! We had too much fun! Kate had a blast walking all over their house! This weekend Mike and I had a great date night on Saturday night and then saw a movie on Sunday afternoon. Thanks Gram for babysitting!! If anyone wants to see a great science fiction movie, we both liked the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates.

Kate's First Birthday Playdate
Well now I couldn't just have one party for my KatieBug--so we had two!! On Monday on her actual birthday we had a playdate at our house to celebrate her big day! I invited a bunch of Moms and Kiddos from the Meetup group that we are a member of. We had a great turn out of 16 kids and 14 adults at the party! Kate had fun showing all her new toys to her friends!
Thanks to everyone for coming-it was such a great playdate!

Kate's First Birthday Party
Well, my beautiful baby girl is now ONE years old!! I can't believe it, but we celebrated big on Saturday to celebrate! We had a fish fry with lots of family and friends. We had both of Kate's grandparents here and her Aunt Jes and Uncle Brian. A BIG THANKS goes out to Brian for cooking all the fish for the party--THANK YOU so much!! Also, we had her Great Uncles: George, Johnny, Steven and her Great Aunts Julie and Connie. She also had her cousins Jenn, James and Emily here. Yikes! We also had the Mills family, Renee and Ian, Stephanie and Frank, Becca, the Newberry family and the Moilanen's. Kate had a great time! She didn't seem all that interested in the ladybug cake that Mike made for her, but oh well! She had fun opening all her presents with her cousins, or should I say they opened them and she just looked at a book the whole time!
Thank you so much to everyone that traveled to be at her party-I know she won't remember it, but she will be able to look at these photos

and know how many people love her!
Thanks again!

Our new best friend
Mike and I have found that our new best friend is our iPhones! I feel like I have hardly put it down since we have gotten them! I love that it is always in my hand to take a picture of Kate (the pictures above)! And I love that my calender, HEB list and To Do List are always just a click away on the iPhone--goodbye to all the lists I always had laying around!!
Let's see what has Kate been up to, well she is busy getting in THREE teeth all at the same time and is walking more and more every day! I can't believe that a week from today she will be a YEAR old!! Wow! Where has the time gone?
We can't wait to see the family this weekend for the BIG First Birthday Party!

It's September!
This weekend Kate and I headed off to McKinney (outside of Dallas or "in the country" as Jenn says) to see my cousin Jenn and her husband's new house. It is a super cute house in a great neighborhood! Kate and I had a great time hanging out with Jenn on Saturday at the Farmer's Market and swimming! It was fun to hang out with Jenn, it just made me sad because we had so much fun that I wish we lived closer so we could hang out more often! But we will be seeing her and the rest of the family in TWO weeks for the big FIRST birthday party! I can't wait! But I can't believe my baby will be ONE!!
Kate has started to get more teeth! I think she might have 4 by her birthday or at least have 3! And she is taking a lot more independent steps.
And on a side note, Mike and I now own iphones.

Kate is trying to WALK!!

Our happy baby!
So Kate is really working hard to WALK (check out the video of this) All this time she is spending trying to walk must be really making her tired because she is now FINALLY taking longer naps! Instead of the 45 minute naps she was taking she is now taking 2 hours or longer naps!! Also, she is getting in another tooth, her front top left tooth. She is still a super happy baby and loves to dance to 60s & 70s music, try to walk everywhere, swing, slide, and well EAT! I feel like I am feeding her all the time. She is now eating mostly table food. She loves cheese, sweet potatoes, chicken, meatballs, rolls, goldfish, grapes, pancakes, cherries, strawberries, bagels and just about anything I put in front of her! She has also started to drink whole milk. I am trying to wean her off breast milk and we have had 2 nights so far with no breast milk at night and she still slept all night. It is going better than I expected. I think the morning feeding is going to be the hardest for her to give up! She is back in her weekly music class and she loves that!!
Let me see what have we been up to, well we had some of Mike's family here. Mike's cousin Zach is attending UT so his family stayed with us as they were getting Zach settled. Also, Mike's cousins Shelby and Sam where here too. We took Kate to a neighborhood park where she had fun sliding and swinging. Check out the video of us at the park! Due to Kate's love of this, we have decided to get a play scape for the backyard. We hope to have one up by December. It is too hot right now to spend 8-12 hours putting one up!! Last weekend, we attended the Mills twins first birthday party. Kate had fun walking/crawling all over the place. Saturday night Kate had her first ever non-relative babysitter, while we went out for a dinner for the Mills wedding anniversary. The Mills suggested we use one of their 15 year old babysitters and it went great! We are all looking forward to Kate's one year birthday party. I can't believe that she will be a year old already! It has gone by too fast!
