Big boy bed update:

Last night Alex cried for about 1 1/2 hours before finally falling asleep right by the gate that is in his door frame.  Today at nap, he didn't cry, but never did fall asleep.  Tonight he cried maybe 5-10 minutes and then played for a while and then fell asleep in front of the gate again!

Right before Easter, Alex climbed out of his bed for the first time. Luckily, his crib is a lower height in the front than the back & sides, so we turned the crib around. That has worked for a while, until he climbed out over the side today. So tonight is his first night in his big boy bed. We took apart the bunk bed & removed the rocking chair. Tomorrow Mike will take out the crib. I can't believe our baby boy is big enough to be out of a crib.

Kate was a few months older when we moved her into her big girl bed & she did great!! She acted like she had been sleeping in her big girl bed forever.

As our kiddos are different on everything, this is no different! Alex is standing at the gate & crying. Poor baby. It is going to be a long night!

All abilities park

Saturday morning, we had made plans to head to Austin to watch a dragon boat race, but Mike had like 3 tons of rock delivered on Wednesday that he wanted to work on landscaping our backyard.  Each stone is like 25 lbs each!  He worked a little longer than we expected so we headed out to a new park in Round Rock called the All Abilities Park.  Kate actually didn't spend the whole time in the sand box and only had one meltdown so we had a great time!

Friday afternoon we headed out to our old favorite hangout, CEC.

We are grandparents???

One of our new fish had babies!!!! This morning we woke to find 7-9 baby fish in the tank!! Crazy!!

And then a few days LATER . . . .

The other new fish had babies!!  I mean really??  What are the chances that we would buy 2 pregnant fish??  Crazy!  So the kiddos and I brought some baby fish food and a breeder trap and we probably have about 30 babies to watch grow!

Sea World with Gram

On Thursday, the last day we had Gram with us, we took the kids to Sea World.  I thought this early in the season it wouldn't be to packed, but we stood in line like 30 minutes just to buy tickets!  Crazy!  They seemed a bit under staffed.  First we hit up all the shows!  The Sesame Street 4D movie just scared the kids.  It strayed water on us and after the third time and both kids crying and screaming we left.  Next we headed over to see, One Ocean.

Next we headed over to see Azul.  Azul's show has beluga whales, dolphins, parrots and acrobatic performers.

Then we watched the Sea Lion show.  This one was so cute!

Kate wanted to ride some rides so she grabbed Gram and they were off!

After the rides, the kids played at a playground and then we walked around the park.  We saw the alligators, penguins, and dolphins.  It was a really great day!!  Kate and Alex both had about one meltdown each all day and Alex did really well without a nap.  We left at about 8 that morning and got home around 7:30pm.  It was a great day and I want to go back!

On Saturday I took the kids to Kate's friend Noah's Birthday party at the fire station, while Mike took his Aunt to the airport.  Mike joined us later for the party at Noah's house.

Kiddie Acres

Wednesday afternoon I took the kids to try out Kiddie Acres.  I have driven past this place a hundred times, but have never taken the kids.  Well, they both LOVED it!  Kate rode every ride!!  Alex rode almost all of them and I even rode the train, ferris wheel and carousal.  The airplanes and the pony rides were Kate's favorite!  Glad that we went on discount day or it would have been a super expensive afternoon!!!

the Zilker experience

Since Gram and Aunt Rae Ann were in town, we decided to take the kids down to Zilker park.  We started with a wonderful ride on the Zilker Zephyr.  Now the last time I took the kids on the train, Kate screamed the whole time and I was lucky to have a stranger hold Alex so I could control Kate.  This time both kids had a great time!

Next we tried to have the kids play on the playground but there were way too many big kids.  So we headed down to the creek.  Both kiddos walked in the water and loved it!

Then we needed some lunch, so after the kids ate, Gram got Kate her very first snowcone!!  She said she only wanted a pink one, because you know that's her favorite color!

Then we headed to the Botanical Gardens.

Alex was so cute at the gardens!  He wanted to smell all the flowers and he kept saying "pretty flowers."  Kate on the other hand wanted to play hide and seek or something and had a melt down.  I felt sorry for the people who were trying to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens and had to listen to her screaming instead!
