Alex's women!

Alex has 3 "women" in his life that he talks about ALL the time!! Every time the doorbell rings he gets super excited & says "Jes, Jes,"asking for his Aunt Jes. And every day he asks me about my friend Cassie. If I tell the kids that Jax & Reese are coming over to play, he will look at me & say "Cassie?" And then there is Ellie. Not sure when this started, but he has to have his yellow elephant named Ellie with him at all times. And he talks about her all the time. Mike & I have been woken up many mornings to Alex saying "Ellie, Ellie."

Alex loves to talk & has new words everyday. He can repeat just about any & every word we say. He can repeat all the letters, except W. A mom at a playdate yesterday told me "Alex is so smart!"

Kate says:

On Sunday night I made Sloppy Joes & Kate has eaten this a dozen of times before, but that night as myself, Alex & Mike are eating she says to us:
"This is bad! This food should go in the trash can". And then she said "this food is only good for rabbits!"

Where does she come up with this stuff!!

Also, when I pick her up from preschool, once we are in the van on the way home, I ask her "what did you do at school today." Forever she would tell me, "I ate lunch" or "I played with Jackson" & that would be it. Now that she is talking alot better, she will sometimes give me a few sentences about school. Well, the last few times I have picked her up, after I ask her she will tell me, and remember she is ONLY 3, "Mom, I dont want to talk, turn on the music!!"

Oh goodness! I dread the teenage years!

70's in January

our little monkeys

He is so silly!

I love that smile!

On Sunday we took the kiddos to Old Settlers Park.  The weather has been really pretty here, with highs in the 70's.
Jax & Kate
On Friday we had a pretty afternoon so Cassie and her boys came over for a walk to the park.  On the way back Jax and Kate did some running.  We played the game red light, green light with them so they couldn't get too far away.  Kate was so funny that when we would say "red light" she wouldn't stop until she was AHEAD of Jax.  Too funny!  She has some competitive Sines genes in her!

On a sad note, we have now lost Kate's two other fish Nemo and Lexi.  RIP Nemo and Lexi!

Circus Fun!! take 2

Kate loved seeing the dogs!

She loves to wear hats!

We were this close!!

We both loved the elephants!
Kate and I headed out to the Shine Circus yesterday!  We had great seats, right on the floor of the circus right by the center ring.  Unfortunately, this circus wasn't near as good as the other circus we saw.  But Kate still had a great time.  She enjoyed seeing all the animals, especially a dog act!  She really liked the motorcycle shunt guys and when the guy jumped out the canon, she said she wanted him to do it again!!

On a side note, the weather has been crazy here!  30 degrees one day and then 70 the next!  Crazy!  So we have been spending time inside on really cold days and then outside in the beautiful 70 degree weather.  Alex has started to shake his head for "yes" and "no" and Kate is doing really great with potty training.

Alex at 16 months

Alex amazes me every day at 16 months! He repeats pretty much everything we say & is now starting to say phrases & not just single words. He loves to call Kate (who he loves so much even though she is pretty mean to him most of the time) "Katiebug." His favorite phrase is "where are you" & then whatever he is looking for. He also says "Oh No" alot & He asks for my sister Jes all the time & tells me he is hungry pretty much ALL day long!
He still loves to dance & has some crazy moves! Gram got Kate some cooking stuff for Christmas & he loves to play with it! He will take one of the "forks" as he calls it & stir a pot & then try to feed it to everyone ( Trudy & Sammy included!). Oh & he finally started to say Sammy! He will also feed his dinosaurs
He still loves to go Bye Bye & he had his first "Daddy & Buddy" morning out with Mike this weekend. Mike said they had a great time!
His eyes are still a pretty light blue & his hair is still crazy curly! Most of his hair is on the back of his head with still not much on the top of his head.
He is getting more teeth in, but they don't seem to be bothering him much.
He still climbs on top of everything, but is pretty good at sitting down when I ask him.
He is becoming a much better independent player & I love to watch him play when Kate is at school!
He is still throwing the "throw my head back" crazy fits, but not as near as bad as Kate did!
Also should say that he knows every animal noise that we know to teach him and pretty much all body parts.  He is like a little sponge!!
We all love our little Buddy & I'm not sure how much longer we will be able to call him our "baby Alex".

Random cute pictures from our trip to St Louis!

The kids loved their Uncle Dougie!!

Uncle Blake and Aberlee

Aunt Kristin and Kate

It snowed!!  Kate did four laps around the house!  And she was not a fan of snowballs!

Kate was so happy to see the cats!!  One of the cats hissed at us all the time, but Kate didn't care!  She still loved them both!  Here she is with Lexi who was super great with the kids!

Oh Alex!  He loves to say cheese for the camera!

Kate loves her Uncle Dougie

Me feeding my niece Aberlee

OH she just loves Uncle Dougie!

Making and decorating Christmas cookies is a tradition I have added to the Abernety's yearly Christmas traditions!  Kate even decorated a few!  She loved it!

We had a really great time in St Louis.  Unfortunately it seemed like everyone got sick while we were there.  I'm pretty sure  everyone got sick from us!  Aberlee did have a cold while we were there and poor Kristin and Blake last some sleep because of it!  We ended up with Kate sleeping in our room, Alex in the sewing room so Aberlee could go back in her room.  She ended up having double ear infections when she went in for her 9 month appointment a few days after Christmas, poor baby.  But you would have never known that she was sick--she is such a HAPPY baby!  She reminded me so much of Kate when she was a baby!  She was so happy just sitting on the floor playing, just like Kate was at that age.  It's hard for me to believe that Alex at that age was almost walking!  It's so crazy how different kids are!

Also everyone seemed to be playing Words with Friends with everyone else.  We watched a ton of movies and just hung out around Kristin's house mostly.  It is so different now with 3 babies!!  We also took family photos one day with the kids in matching outfits!  I can't wait to see those!

We are considering going to Cozumel for Christmas next year.  We will see!

We hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!

Bowling

It's an Abernethy family tradition to go bowling during the Christmas holiday!  This was Kate's first time to go bowling and she did ok.  She bowled a few times and then got bored.  We only made it for 1 game rather than the 2 games we usually play.  Alex and Aberlee were getting restless!

Cute cousins!

Alex just loved Aberlee!!  He called her Abbie and was always trying to hug and kiss her!

All 3 playing together

Kate was super sweet with Aberlee!  Wish she was that sweet with Alex more!

The kids just loved being with Aberlee!  It was so fun to see them all together!
