So we have returned from our first airplane trip with Kate. I have to say that flying is such a different experience with a child! The week we were leaving Mike came down with a cold and then Kate started to cough! So we took her to the doctor to make sure she was ok and if there was anything we could do if she got worse on our trip. Well, turned out that she just had a cold, just like Mike. But the doctor said her ears looked beautiful and I shouldn't worry! So Friday morning we all wake up at 3:30AM and start our day of travel. Oh if only we had known that 12 hours later we would still be in the airport!! Yes, so Kate and I were supposed to be on a flight at 5:30 but it was overbooked so we got on the flight that Mike was taking. So we went back home only to turn around a few hours later and go back to the airport. Unfortunately, a storm rolled into town and didn't leave so our flight was delayed until 6pm so we decided instead of getting stuck in Atlanta with a baby, we would just try to make it out on a flight the next day. So on Saturday we woke up at 3:30am again and finally made it!! That is without our car seat!! What a mess (we had a use a loaner car seat, but we did get our car seat back) We went from the airport to a old friend of Mike's from high school. We had a nice visit with them and found out that Mike's friend's wife, knew Kristin's soon to be husband, Blake, from college!! Such a small world that we live in!! We spent a few days at Mike's parents and then headed to DC on Wednesday. Poor Kristin and Blake, they found out Tuesday night that the place they were having their rehearsal dinner was closed and had to find another place by Friday night! Luckily they were able to find one on Wednesday! So Mike and I went to Mount Vernon on Wednesday. It rained and even hailed on us!!
On Thursday we went to the DC Zoo. Mike also went to the National Cathedral. Thursday night we had a great big family dinner! It was fun to visit with everyone before all the wedding stuff. Friday the guys went golfing and the girls went to have mans/pedis. Friday afternoon was the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. Saturday was the BIG day! The wedding!
It was a busy day, that was followed by a beautiful wedding and super fun reception! On Sunday we meet up with my high school friend Amanda and a friend of Mike's from college and headed back to Mike's parents house. We returned home on Tuesday. Kate was great on the way home and luckily we had no problems on the way home!
