THE COUGH!!

Last time I blogged, we had just taken both kiddos to the doctor on Monday, Feb 7. That week we gave Kate the breathing treatments, but her cough got worse every day!! It was turning into a really wet cough and her teacher at MDO even commented that it sounded bad. So Friday, Kate and I went back to the doctor. I talked to Dr Owens about how I felt Kate has had a cough off/on since Thanksgiving and it was the same way last fall! I told her that Mike and I were just so done with Kate coughing ALL THE TIME!! So Kate had a check x-ray, sinus x-ray (both were not fun) and blood work drawn. Dr Owens said one of her sinus cavities looked full, but her chest was ok and didn't show signs of asthma. Her CBC also was normal, but was waiting on one more test result before giving medication. On Saturday Dr Owens called to say that the bacteria test that she had tested Kate for was negavite so she thought Kate has a sinus infections and gave her antibiotics. Kate's wet cough has seemed to go away, and I think she is feeling better. We go back on Thursday to see Dr Owens and see if the cough was caused by her sinus or if there is something else going on. We will see!

As fast as Alex got sick, I feel he got better just as fast. He was wheezing until Tuesday, but Wednesday he seemed so much better!! He is back to his happy self and has even starting sleeping all night! We have had 3 nights so far that he has slept from 7pm until 5:30am!! It's so awesome!

I also have been sick and have a sinus infection. I went to the doctor on Tuesday. I seem to feel better today--finally!!

He LOVES the rice cereal!! I will make him a BIG bowl of it and I always have to make him even MORE!! He doesn't seem to like green beans or peas so far. Next we try carrots!

Baby Alex is 5 months old today!!

Today my baby Alex is 5 months old! Unfortunately he had to spend this morning at the doctor's office. He has a mild case of RSV and ear infections in both ears. He has been running fever since yesterday late afternoon. He is a happy sick baby, just has a nasty cough and wheeze in the lungs!!
Kate also saw the doctor, for the cough she has had, I swear, since she was 18 months old!! When will it ever go away?? The doctor thinks it might be due to enlarged androids or she is having bronchspasms at night. So we are going to start her on breathing treatments for the time being. At her appointment next month for the 2 1/2 year appointment we will see how she is doing and see if she will need an x-ray of her androids and maybe see an ENT. Fun, Fun.

Snow Day, Feb 4, 2011

Wow!! It snowed about 1 1/2 inches in Pflugerville on Friday! It all melted by Friday afternoon and we spent a lot of time outdoors this weekend! The weather is so crazy here in good 'ol Texas!

I did it!!

On Wednesday we had some power outages due to the cold weather here in Texas. The power went out while Kate was watching Snow White or Hi Ho as she calls it. Well, then when the power came back on, she looks at the TV and says "I DID IT!" She was so proud of herself!! Too funny!

She is really talking a lot, we still don't understand everything she says, but it's nice to ask her what she wants and actually get an answer!! It seems 9 times out of 10 she will answer with "crackers!"

She is really into singing! It amazes me how she can hear a tune to a song and then start singing the song! We still are singing Jingle Bells daily and today she was singing "10 little Monkey's Jumping on the Bed."

And she is still coughing--I feel like she has been coughing since like, well Thanksgiving. Will it ever go away?????

Livin like a BEAR

So we have now not left the house since Tuesday!! I feel like we are bears hiberating for the winter!! It has been really cold since Tuesday, but no snow yet. Last I heard we would be getting some tonight. It's so cold that Kate's MDO was even canceled for today!

Before this cold front came our way, this past weekend, Alex and I headed to Dallas to see my cousin Jenn. Kate stayed home with Mike. It was so nice to have only one kid to look after and luckily Alex slept the whole way there and would have slept the whole way home, but he woke due to being stopped by traffic on 35. Kate and Mike went to Chuck E Cheese, Extreme Fun, out to eat and took a 4 hour nap!! Alex and I just hung out with Jenn and took walks in the great sunny weather!! It's hard for me to believe that Jenn got sunburned on Saturday and had shorts on on Sunday and now I think it is snowing in Dallas!! Crazy Texas weather!!

Yesterday I decided that I needed to get Alex on some sort of schedule! I feel like Kate came into the world on a schedule and here is Alex almost 5 months old and still not on a schedule!! So I looked up the schedule Kate had at 6 months and we are on our second day of the schedule and it is going great!!! He has BM when he wakes, cereal around 9, BM at 12, nap, BM at 3, baby food at 5 and then BM before going to bed. And he still wakes around 3am to eat. Also, he is rolling over both ways now.

BIG NEWS--looks like we will be headed to CALIFORNIA soon!!
